product rave!

Body Shop Moisture Foundation SPF15

(sorry about the terrible quality...google was playing up!)

Love, love, love LOVE this foundation! My all time favourite foundation, have tried many and nothing can beat this :) Light/medium coverage, quite watery in texture so lets skin breathe and is availabe in a wide range of colours, (mine is number 5 if you're interested)

I think this is priced around £10-11 and has been avaliable in most body shops i have visted. I use the formulation for dry skin as it gives a really nice glow but there is also a foundation aimed at people with oily skin, which also works brilliantly. The only negative i have about this as the foundation for oily skin tends to be alot darker so don't assume you're the same colour for both formulations...get yourself matched up again :)

If you are looking for a heavy foundation, this isn't for you but i find it covers dark circles and minor blemishes well enough...only rarely do i need to use concealor over the top however, if you are acne prone, i don't think this would give you enough coverage but you could work with it if you used something like mac studio finish concealer over-the-top!

So my lovelies, i would definitely check this foundation out as it gives your skin a lovely glow- perfect for the summer :)

Take care,

Perfume Collection :)

My Perfumes :)
I would never usually splash out and purchase a perfume...that's why i love christmas/birthdays!
I don't have hundreds of fragrances but the ones i do have, i rotate on a day-to-day basis. I really do think perfumes can finish off an outfit and i choose them depending on the mood i am in or the time of day i.e- day or night :)

(sorry in advance for the pretty rubbish photography skills)

1) Dior Hypnotic PoisonMy absolute all time favourite! The smell lingers for hours and i only use the eau de toilette! A true signature scent, i can smell anyone who uses this a mile off! If you haven't got it i would definately recommend trying it if you won't a sophisticated scent :)

2)YSL ParisienneA rather new fragrance i got for christmas, alongside a parisienne moisturiser which i LOVE! I do really like this perfume, it's floral and girly, yet i'm not sure if it is worth the money! I got this in eau de parfum and it honestly lasts about an hours until the fragrance wears off! I probably won't repurchase this but it is nice for special occasions! :)

3)Anna Sui- Sui Dreams

I'm not going to lie, the main reason for me getting this perfume was the packaging...it is absolutley stunning! Sui Dreams is a perfect summer perfume, light and refreshing! It doesn't have very strong staying power but my main reason for getting this was to make my vanity look nice... so that doesn't really matter to me that much ;)!

4)Kate Moss

This perfume always seems to be in my local TJ Hughes so i had smelt it a couple of times before and when i received this as a christmas present, i was sceptical! I love Kate Moss but this perfume didn't really do it for me on first spray (it slightly reminded me of hairspray)! However, when left for half an hour, this perfume develops a beautiful floral scent and it is now the perfume i reach for everyday! For the price, it definatley is worth it :)

Cacharel Amor Amor and Monsoon's perfume

Neither of these perfumes did it for me tbh, so i'm not going to write a huge section about them! I think the problem being with both of these perfumes, is that perhaps they are abit too old for me! Monsoon is very musky whereas Amor Amor is sweeter but it just isn't my kind of scent! I think i will probably repurchase Amor Amor in a few years time, its just isn't one of my favourites at the moment!

PERFUME RAVE: 7) Christina Aguilera By Night

Whenever i wear this scent i always get compliments! I would never have expected a perfume from Christina Aguilera to be this girly! It's sweet yet musky...a perfect evening fragrance! For the price, you cannot beat it... i would definatley recommend picking this up :)

All images of individual perfumes above are from random google searches :)

I hope this helped you guys if you are looking into purchasing a new perfume! Just remember everyone already has their own unique scent, so some perfumes will smell different on other people...these are just my opinions on them :)

Take care and have a lovely weekend;

eye of the day

Eye of the day :)

Today, i fancied a change from the neutral colours i usually wear on my eyes so i decided to go for a pinky/purple look...

Products used:

mac's bare study paintpot

mac's orb all over lid

mac's stars and rockets middle section of eye

mac's beauty marked in crease

urban decay vapour in tearduct

l'oreal carbon gloss liquid eyeliner

l'orel telescopic mascara

I really like this look as it encorporates colour but is still wearable for daytime :)

UDPP- is it really that great?

Now don't get me wrong, the urban decay primer potion does do the job it's created for- priming the eyes so eyeshadows don't crease and so they stay on for longer yet is it really worth all the hype?

I first purchased the UDPP in October for around £11-12 at my local John Lewis. My mum seemed to think it was really expensive for an eye primer but i assured her it would be money well spent....On first use i was pleased with the effects as my eyeshadow did last all day and didn't crease. However, when i used my mac paintpots my eyeshadow didn't tend to crease so i didn't really see how this product was better as the paintpots also create coloured bases. Another negative i found with this product was that when i used it, my eyeshadows were really difficult to blend. I could have just been really heavy handed with the primer but even with a thin layer i found it left a sort of sticky residue on my eyelid :S

After about a month i (stupidly) dropped my UDPP and chipped the bottom of the bottle. At first i didn't think about it but after about a week the primer started to clump and dry out so i figured that this would be the time to depot my primer potion...
Now i would definitely suggest doing this as the amount of product that is still in the tube is crazy! I think the packaging for the primer potion, although it looks cute, isn't very pratical! As you can see i hacked at the bottle quite alot until i realised that i could just cut out the bottom from where i had already created a hole when i dropped it duhhh!
Overall i would not say this is a bad product i just don't really understand the hype! Mind you this is just my opinion as i know for many people this is a holy grail product :)

favourite nail colour of the month

If someone had ever told me that i would be sporting lilac nails, i would probably have laughed in their face! Typically, i much prefer neutral colours on my nails but have sometimes ventured towards a bright red on special occasions. Now, i am in love with pastel colours and this is the nail polish that sparked of this obsession:
Opi "DO YOU LILAC IT?"

I usually put on 2-3 coats of this colour as only one coat gives a slightly washed out effect. Normally, this nail varnish will last around 3-4 days before it starts chipping and even longer with a top coat! Unfortunatley for me, due to my part time job i can't wear nail varnish for work so during the week my nails tend to look rather boring. However, when i have a few nights off work this is the nail varnish i grab for! I think it is a really pretty colour and alot more unusual than your typical light pink manicured nails! This would probably suit every skin colour, but i think it would look absolutley amazing on darker skin tones!

This is a picture of me and my mummy's freshly polished nails. I think this colour is really flattering as it elongates your hands and doesn't look tacky, as i would have expected a lilac nail polish to look! My mum has now requested i buy her a bottle also, as mine is rapidly decreasing! I paid around £10 for this bottle, which is alot of money for a nail polish but i know if you look around you can pick Opi polished up for £5-£6 :)

This is a beautiful colour to be worn all year round but i think it suits spring the best! So ladies, move away from the french manicures and nude nails... wack out the lilac nail polish! I guarentee all your friends will want to copy you :)

my first EVER mac haul! :)

This may seem like an incredibly random first post, which is true, but i just wanted to show you how my obsession with makeup began...

Summer 09, Leeds. I had just finished by GCSE's and returned from a trip to Majorca with my dad, when my mum informed me that while my sister was sunning it up in Portugal, we were to visit my family in Leeds. I had been to York before but never Leeds so my cousin and auntie took my mum and i there and needless to say, quite alot was purchased! Before i begin with this haul, can I just say that people up north are so much more friendly than us southerners! My closest city is London and if you went round saying hello to random strangers, you would be considered rather odd! Anyways, back to the haul :)

I told my auntie I was really interested in trying out some mac products, as I had heard many good things about them over YouTube. We then proceeded to Harvey Nicholls where they had an absolutley massive mac counter. For your first mac haul, I would suggest seeing one of their salesladies who will persuade you to buy the makeup they think will suit you best. However, do research around abit before as their job is to sell you as much as possible and some of the stuff may be unneccesary.

1) Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Medium Plus

This was the one product i knew i really wanted and even now i still use it daily. However, my one regret was getting this colour in such a dark shade. I had just returned from holiday, so i was very tanned at the time but i only managed to wear it for 2/3 weeks, as my tan started to wear off. I ended up purchasing another in Medium and using this one to contour. I reach for this product everyday and just use concealor underneath, unless I am hitting the town then i will go for my Revlon Colorstay :)

2) Paintpot Bare Study

love love LOVE it! a gorgeous champagne colour which i used alot in the summer just with lashings of mascara! I actually prefer it to urban decay's primer potion, which i actually don't rate that highly but more about that in another post!

3) 224 Brush

Blends colours beautifully. When the lady did my makeup she used a 222 but then told us that they had ran out of that brush but the 224 was exactly the same. Now i know that this isn't the case but i am still really happy with this brush and it is a staple in my makeup routine :)

4) Creme d'Nude

All i can say is i absolutley adore this lipstick! My favourite nude i have ever tried, doesn't make me appear washed out at all! I love the vanilla scent of all mac lipsticks and i believe cremesheens are the best formulation! If you are looking to purchase your first mac lipstick get this one, you won't regret it :)

5) Eyeshadows in "Orb" and "Quarry"

Now, these aren't as popular colours as the likes of "woodwinked" or "sable" but i think for your first eyeshadow combination, you can't beat these two colours! Both are matte colours and blend beautifully together to create a subtle eye. They work brilliantly with the slight shimmer barestudy paintpot gives you, without making your eyes look like disco balls. I reach for orb everyday as it is very close to my natural colouring (just slightly more pink) and evens out my skintone beautifully!

6) Nars Orgasm Blush

Now, i know this is a mac haul but my auntie said she would treat me to a blush and i saw the Nars counter and after all the hype, i knew i had to try Orgasm. It is a beautiful pinky/corally blush with gold shimmer. I would apply sparingly as it has strong pigmentation but i absolutley adore this blush! I think it makes me look awake and compliments my skintone well! This is my everyday got to blush and i have just hit pan, so will be purchasing another soon :)

Well i hope this helped you guys out a little bit if you are looking into purchasing some things from mac! These are just my opinions so the colours may not suit your skintones aswell etc, but i do think things such as the Barestudy paintpot would look good on anyone :) Sorry for the rambling but i hope you enjoyed this post and i will hopefully start blogging regularly from now on :)

Take care my lovelies,

Char ♥
